Moving forward, the airline has its sights set on North America. This year the airline launched a triangular Australian service to the Gold Coast and Cairns and also announced services to Auckland scheduled for November 10. Until now the airline has focused on developing a strong regional network – particularly targeting underserved destinations such as Malaysia’s Kuching, popular Japanese business and tourist destinations and mainland China – as a strategic move to build up feeder services for future expansion. The new lounge is part of Hong Kong Airlines’ ultimate ambition to become a “global, full-service hub-to-hub” airline, revealed Wong.Ĭurrently operating a fleet of 30 modern Airbus aircraft, the airline expects to have more than 50 aircraft by 2018 – including three A350s due to be delivered next year. As part of its ongoing relationship with the airport authority, it hopes to eliminate the need for this completely. Hong Kong Airlines has about 90 percent of its flights now routed through the Midfield Concourse and served by an air bridge, while the others require a shuttle bus ride to the tarmac. But we’ve cooperated with the airport and now we’re very happy with the decision.” There will always be a lack of shops, a lack of facilities. Wong said the new lounge was a gamble, but believes the hard work has paid off: “As with any new terminal, it was a bit of a risk. Near to the lounge is a large balcony terrace, provided by the Airport Authority, giving smokers a more pleasant area than the current rooms in the main airport terminals. Special attention will be paid to the food offering, which will reflect traditional Hong Kong street food, with an onsite chef cooking up local favourites like egg waffles and noodles. Rest areas will also be available with shower facilities. Meanwhile, a number of VIP rooms will be equipped with the latest audio-visual technology so business travellers can conduct small meetings or conference calls while they are in transit.

I can't imagine professionals using the LaCie I think they would go for the solid dependable G-RAID (but professionals can afford data recovery if they need it, which is very unlikely). After doing several tests the big difference is that the Lacie has a 5-year Data Recovery (they both have 5-year warranty). It doesn't have all the extra ports it's bigger but I think better looking. Update, I have now purchased a G-RAID thunderbolt 3 as a comparison it has exactly the same specs but it's faster, not by much but it is faster. It's very easy to set up and use, it comes with a good easy to use app. The charger port is just 15W so apparently according to other reviewers is not good enough for charging a laptop. I like the CF card port in the front but it's not a deal breaker. It comes with 4 different plugs for different countries, a waste of cables that just creates trash. My biggest gripe is that the light on the front flashes even when it's turned off, you have to completely unplug it to get it to stop this, it's very annoying when it's in your bedroom, so it just sits there with tape over the light looking ugly. I had to get a Thunderbolt to ESata + USB 3.0 adapter to achieve anything like decent speeds which was an extra £100 (there's only one type available) but it's worth it. This form mirrors the Seller Multiple Counter Offer form in several ways. accommodates a single counter to a single offer. Highlights of the Seller Single Counter Offer Formīy contrast, the Seller Counter Offer form provided by C.A.R. At this point, the Seller Multiple Counter Offer has served its purpose. Signing section 8 stands as a binding contract between both the buyer and the seller. This section also indicates that the buyer accepts all terms with no counter offer of their own. If the seller wants to accept this specific offer with no follow up counter, they will then sign Section 8. This incorporates their counter offer into the agreement. However, if they instead wish to issue their own Buyer Counter Offer, they’ll need to check the appropriate box. If the buyer accepts the counter offer, they will sign the document as well. Once the seller has signed the completed Seller Multiple Counter Offer form, it can be issued to the buyer. If you opt to disregard this section, then the buyer will automatically have a standard three days to respond following the issuance of the counter offer. The Seller Multiple Counter Offer form conveniently allows you to place an expiration date or time for the buyer’s response. In this case, you’ll need to complete section D, checking off the relevant fields and specifying the documents. The form also gives you the option of attaching additional documents. You have space to write out the specifics in the “Other Terms” field. By contrast, the date field in the upper right corner will be the date that you are preparing your counter offer.Īny terms that you are going to be countering need to be specified in the relevant “Terms” section. You can begin by filling in the date in the field that reads “dated.” This shouldn’t be today’s date but rather the offer’s date. Highlights of the Seller Multiple Counter Offer FormĬompleting your form for a counter offer real estate professionals in California will accept is pretty intuitive. The California Association of Realtors (C.A.R.) provides a sample Seller Multiple Counter Offer form that we’ll reference. So what if you already have one offer you’d like to counter and a second on the way, but don’t want to wait? Then you need to use a single counter offer instead of a multiple counter offer. You must wait until you have officially received that offer to include it in your multiple counter offer. You cannot file a multiple counter offer to include a counter on an offer you are only expecting to receive.Ĭase in point: a realtor gives you a heads up on an offer that’s coming your way by the end of the day. However, in order to take advantage of a multiple counter offer, you must have already received the offers you wish to counter. You Can’t Counter What You Haven’t Received This would warrant a multiple counter offer. Now, in another example, let’s say you’ve received five offers, but the seller wants to counter three of these. In this case, you’d use a single counter offer. Say, for example, you’ve received five offers, but the seller only wants to counter one of these offers. That’s because you may not be intending to counter every offer. Pretty straightforward, right? But be careful not to confuse this with the total number of offers received. What sets apart a single counter offer and multiple counter offer is simply the number of offers being countered. The most commonly used real estate counter offer examples are: Any of these factors (and many more) can warrant a counter offer. Maybe they want certain furnishings to be included in the sale. Maybe the buyer wants a shorter close of escrow date. Perhaps the seller wants a shorter contingency period. Those first two are pretty intuitive, but what about that last one? An offer can be countered in a series of ways. When using Bud Powell voicings in a cycle of 5th progression, the R7 and R3 shells should alternate from chord-to-chord. All the constructors I spoke to praised him for elevating the Times puzzle to its current station. “Gangsta rap characters” were THUGS.īut Will Shortz, the Times puzzle editor since 1993, is an icon for a reason. A recent clue for the answer HAREM was “Decidedly nonfeminist women’s group,” and the clue “Exasperated comment from a feminist” led to the answer MEN. It’s been accused of tone deafness on issues of race and gender. It’s not just that the Times puzzle is staid, or geared toward olds. It was like, what if you made a crossword about rap, or something? That felt really radical at the time.”Ĭriticism of the Times puzzle seems to have expanded of late, beyond the stylistic and into the political. “Crosswords were staid, you know? As much as I enjoyed them, there was always this feeling that the voice of the Times was not my generational voice. These sylvan constructors could rewrite the stylebook. A risky proposition, but one that came with aesthetic upside. “Papers were dying, papers were dropping their crosswords.” And so some crossword designers decided to go it alone. Over (craft) beers recently, Ben Tausig, 1 the editor of the acclaimed indie American Values Club crossword, reflected on the early days of indies, over a decade ago. With few exceptions, all daily Times puzzles use 15-by-15 grids with rotational symmetry, a convention indies can and do break. Nor are they subject to the physical constraints of a major newspaper. Topics and themes, however recent, modern, niche or profane, are fair game. They also aren’t subject to the stylistic constraints of a large media institution. Indie puzzles don’t have to wait months in a publication queue, as they would at the Times. “My favorite thing about indie puzzles is the timeliness,” Neville Fogarty, an avid indie solver who helped found the Indie 500 crossword tournament, told me. The Times is a Budweiser lager the indies are small-batch saisons and IPAs. “I think of the indie world like we’re all craft beer brewers,” Brendan Emmett Quigley, a professional puzzle constructor, told me. And some of them can outrate the gold standard over at the Times. A vibrant ecosystem of independent crosswords - “indies” - exists on the internet, its component puzzles multiplying and evolving, finding their niche and trying to find ways to survive. Yet while BuzzFeed’s puzzle revolution fizzled, a devoted band of ragtag agitators remains devoted to the cause. “BuzzFeed Is Revolutionizing the Crossword Puzzle,” an Observer headline declared last year. There was hope, given BuzzFeed’s large amounts of traffic, that it would serve as a meaningful competitor to the starchy, hegemonic New York Times crossword. The BuzzFeed crossword, which launched in October, promised a millennial upheaval to the musty crossword genre: an internet-native, slang-fluent, pop-culture-obsessed puzzle aimed at young solvers. Its editor, 23-year-old puzzle wunderkind Caleb Madison, for whom this was his first job, left the company to strike out on his own. Kalinowski's take: Kalinowski said the Cava Group concepts are "the most likely Mediterranean concepts that Yum Brands could acquire, should it choose to move within that category." He added: "They are the two largest concepts within the Mediterranean sector, and of these five concepts, Zoe's Kitchen generates the largest average unit volumes. That number has decreased to 292, according to Datassential's 2022 "Firefly 500" report. At the time of the acquisition, the combined chains encompassed 327 restaurants in 24 states. Cava, a fast-casual chain often described as the Chipotle of Mediterranean food, took the publicly traded Zoe's private and began rebranding some stores as Cava. (Units, sales, and AUVs, or average yearly sales per store, were obtained from Datassential's 2022 "Firefly 500" report.) Kalinowski identified seven chains that could be a good fit for Yum Brands, including Cava and Dutch Bros Coffee. Yum Brands declined to comment on Turner's comments. "Yum doesn't own any coffee concepts, and coffee is big," he said. In a follow-up interview with Insider, he said Yum Brands could also go after a coffee company. The founder of Kalinowski Equity Research wrote a note last week about possible acquisition targets for Yum Brands. "If Yum Brands decides to go Mediterranean, it's a bet on the future of the segment itself," Kalinowski said. Kalinowski said that the burger chain from California filled a hole in Yum's portfolio and that a Mediterranean buy could do the same. Habit was Yum Brands' latest acquisition - it purchased the fast-casual chain in March 2020 in a deal valued at $375 million. The company and its franchisees own and operate more than 53,000 restaurants in 155 countries under the brand names Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC, and Habit Burger Grill. Turner said Yum Brands opened a new store every two hours in 2021. "If you have a long-term outlook, do you really care if we're going into recession six months from now?" "If you're an acquirer, now might be the wise time to pull the trigger," Kalinowski told Insider in an interview. Earlier this year, Kalinowski suggested that Restaurant Brands International, the owner of Burger King and Popeyes, was looking to buy a big fast-food brand. Mark Kalinowski, a veteran industry analyst, said that with valuations sputtering in a tough macroeconomic climate, it's not surprising that Yum Brands might be looking to expand its portfolio. There's lots of interesting categories out there that we're studying." The Mediterranean-foods space is interesting. "We're keeping our eyes open," Turner said at the JPMorgan US All Stars Conference on September 20. Yum Brands, which owns Taco Bell and KFC and whose most recent acquisition came at the onset of the pandemic, is looking for another brand to buy, possibly a Mediterranean chain, Chris Turner, its chief financial officer, said at a recent investor conference. Yet each ultimately offered a way for fans and players to immerse themselves in the world of Yu-Gi-Oh! without pulling out a physical deck. Not that every game strove for an accurate recreation of the TCG PlayStation 2 title Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses remains a beloved game precisely because it’s a one-of-a-kind War of the Roses-inspired strategy game only tangentially related to the wider series. As soon as the card game burst onto the scene, video games like Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Souls - released for the original PlayStation months after the TCG debuted in 1999 - soon followed. Official digital adaptations of the card game have existed since the origins of Yu-Gi-Oh! as a franchise. Virtual simulators aren’t just a sideshow in Yu-Gi-Oh! - they’re essential to its prosperity. Since its early days dominating playgrounds, the card game has always been merely one method to jump into the world of Yu-Gi-Oh! Nowadays, the game’s digital outings play an almost necessary role in not just introducing or expanding the TCG to new audiences, but allowing long-term players to experiment and test strategies against AI and online opponents before taking those strategies into the real world. Master Duel was different: sold as a free-to-play return to their childhood, millions flocked to the newly-released app to try out classic decks they enjoyed as a kid or experience just how much the trading card game had evolved from their heady childhood days. While we’ve had plenty of official Yu-Gi-Oh! video games over the years, many struggle to reach an audience beyond the core fanbase. The release of Yu-Gi-Oh!
